About
Hi, my name is Mohsin and I'm one of the organisers of Social Change. I've been a grassroots activist now for nearly 20 years and I initially started this site mainly because I wanted a platform to share my perspective with other grassroots organisers or those interested in social change.
I had for some time been writing articles and zines without any real idea of what I was going to do with it all. Mostly I just found myself with a lot to say but no-one to say it to, which was pretty frustrating. So after nearly a year I hit on the un-original idea of starting this website where I could publish some of my zines and also develop a social change blog.
In time I hoped that Social Change might become a small radical NGO, maybe a collective of some sort with a much wider remit on social change, and that has slowly been taking place. This year, 2025, for example sees the beginning of a workshop programme, and we also have lots of ideas for campaigns though not yet the resources to be able to develop them.
One of the main rationales for the site is to be able to present those who work for radical social and environmental change with an alternative perspective as well as ideas for what a more ecological and socially just society might look like and how to get there. Social Change is not about advocating for revolution or trying to radicalise people or turn them into ideologues. Instead the goal is to provide an alternative dialogue, one that is more truthful and better informed. Of course, that means not only critiquing the system, but also our movements, as all too often our movements can mirror the very worst aspects of the system.
So that is the rationale that underlies Social Change as a would-be NGO. I hope you find the site useful, informative and thought provoking, and if you're interested in getting involved, then get in touch.
